even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. It was a German celebration at The Eiffel Tower. Ironic really. German's in France, celebrating their exploits for killing French and English, at the most French place in the world. The one place a person would see from anywhere in the world and they would instantly think of French citizens. But this was the Germans, they never made any sense to her anyway, she sometimes wished that would so she could just figure out which one of them ran the operation that approved the torture of her brother but there was just no paper trail that she could follow. Sure, they were good at keeping notes and files on everything that they needed to, but when it came to things like this, they were good at hiding the evidence of stuff they were doing that was not a good thing, these were things like torture missions and other things that involved things you weren't supposed to do in war. She was attending as a guest, someone singing at the whole affair, again ironic. An English agent posed as a French singer who would be spending the evening singing in German.
She gazed in the mirror with a small smile to herself. She was going to sing, sing for Germany so she could spend more time with them, find out their secrets and hopefully find who killed her brother, once she found out who that person would be, she would be happy, she would finally feel accomplished and most of all, her life would be right. She had a sinking feeling that she might die doing so, hopefully she wouldn't die before she got her revenge, but then the future wasn't certain, the only thing that was ever certain was the past and sometimes she wasn't sure if she could trust that. Her mind was a little messed up now after spending at least four months being a male when in the company of the Basterds, she rarely had the chance to lead a normal life any more since her squad was ambushed and killed, only leaving her alive. She felt weird being the only one in a rather large group of professionally train soldiers to survive, but then that's the way the world was, sometimes things like that happened because you needed to be the one who survived and that's why she was determined to do something more with her life, she wants to do right by her dead friends.
She puckered her lips as she applied the last layer of red lipstick to her lips and then nodded at the mirror, she was ready to go out and she was glad she would finally be able to get out there. Someone knocked at the small door that she was currently in, almost like a dressing room, but not quite. She opened the door and smiled to the woman who was telling her it was time for her to leave the room and say hello to her date. She was accompanying Diedrich Edselvine, he had heard her sing and rather enjoyed it, so low and behold, she decided to come along, after all, the evil race at play was always attractive, she could find out so many different things from drunken soldiers, of course she would be careful to not blow her cover and would always be careful to not force it out of them, that would be a stupid idea as they would insantly know that she's a spy. She moved out of the room and into the wide party area, the celebration floor where all the Germans were playing their little political games.
She moved carefully and swiftly through the crowd, looking for her 'date' in among the vast amounts of Germans. Of course, she couldn't speak German as well as them because she spoke it with a slight French tone, after all, she was supposed to be French. "Ah, Herr Edselvine," she said with a little smile on her lips as she finally spotted him. She didn't know if he would request her to sing on stage just yet, but for now, she wanted to be with him, getting closer and hoping with all her heart that she could find out some information, sadly she doubted it, this man was well trained and very intelligent. "Thank you for inviting me to this joyous event," she said in German with a softer sound to it as she smiled warmly up at him. She couldn't deny it, this man was handsome.

Tonight was a night of celebration of all things German. The German music was playing, the drinks were flowing, and the dialect was from the fatherland rather than the ridiculous French language. For a second, Diedrich Edselvine thought he was back in Germany, but was quickly mistaken once he saw the French national icon as the place to be for the night. Oh well, it would do until he got back to the land he loved the most.
Edselvine was characteristically dressed in his officer uniform without his officer hat. He was the main attraction because of his fame, and it actually did manage to draw a big Nazi German crowd aboard. The party planner had set up a bunch of blond women dressed in tiny furry bear costumes serving drinks in honor of "The Bear German". Someone sure knew him well for putting so many blonds everywhere!
He eyed each one with hungry, sexual eyes. Edselvine thought he could get away with a foursome, but again decided against it, as the word would spread and his reputation would quickly be ruined. Besides, tonight, he had a date with a striking young woman with a voice that mad his heart madly pound. Being with a beautiful singer was just about as good as being with a blond, he suspected.
Diedrich chatted with his fellow officers, all of lower rank, until Juliette strolled up to him and thanked him for his offering to her.
"Oh fraulein, it is truly a treat to be with such a rare, beautiful rose with an angelic voice on a fine evening such as this," Diedrich took her delicate hand, brought it to his lips, and kissed it, all the while holding onto her eye contact.
"Oberfuhrer, I did not know your charms were so great with the women!" An officer responded, gently poking Edselvine in the side.
"I love the company of marvelous women, I thought this word got around!" Edselvine grinned from ear to ear, his next remark was aimed straight at Juliette, "however, my passion for the frauleins would surely subside if I happened to find the right woman."
He would decide quickly and easily if Juliette was just a blowjob or if she was the real deal for his life, only by seeing how she reacted to his fame. If she reacted wholesomely and not enamored by his fame, then she was the one. If she was like all the other one night stands, she would question him about his glorious exploits for the good of the Germans, without even caring.
"Juliette, I would like you to meet some of my freunds, this is Sturmbannführers Clove and Waldronhelm," Diedrich nodded at each, but with his eyes he warned them not to touch her.
"It is a pleasure to meet such a fair lady, and I hear the fair lady has a great singing talent, will you sing for us?" Clove asked, with a wondering smile.
"No, my good sir, she will sing later," Edselvine answered for Juliette, "if you will excuse us gentleman, I must attend to her needs."
He gently took her hand and guided her to a corner that was relatively quiet. Diedrich didn't like to be kept waiting. He wanted to know if she was just like the others or if she was someone different.
"How are you faring tonight, Juliette?" Edselvine spoke just loudly enough so she could hear.
He kept her hand in both of his to show in a nonverbal way that he cared to hear what she had to offer.

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth smiled at him, The Bear German. She wanted to laugh at how strange it was, she spent all her time with The Bear Jew, a man she highly respected and possibly loved and loathed all at the same time and now she was going to spending a lot more time with his Nazi counter part whom she loathed deeply on the inside because of what he was, but she was sure passed all the Nazi propaganda love, he was actually a nice man. There was no denying this man had charm and in a way she was glad he did or getting to this point could have been a very difficult task for her indeed. She kept the eye contact with him, not wanting to break it for one moment, studying his face and everything about him, after all, that was her job. "Oh, you flatter me so, I may blush if you continue this way," she said, smiling up at him slightly, still not breaking the eye contact.
She was hoping to spend the whole time with him, alone, but there appeared to be a gaggle of lower ranked officers who wished to speak with him, probably about his female companions and his exploits as The Bear German, something she knew would be pointless talking about if she wanted to be in with him, she would have to compliment his personality, get to know him and ignore the fact he was this huge German icon. She knew men a little too well and she knew her mother would be horrified if she knew what she did with her time now, but her mother wasn't there to judge, God bless her soul. She grinned and giggled slightly at his comment on loving women, pretending to act surprised by this discovery. As he mentioned settling down with the right woman, she shyed away ever so slightly, a blush coming to her cheeks as she stayed close by his side, she wasn't trying to hint at anything, she was just being a typically adorable French girl.
Elizabeth carefully looked up at him, making sure to see who was going to answer the question. As Diedrich answered for her, she turned to the males, smiling at them politely, not wanting to come across as a typical airhead who just wanted to be the trophy on his arm, she was going to use tonight to socialise with the other Germans, but right now, she felt like she should stay with him. She smiled and nodded towards the gentlemen, as if thanking them for their time, but she had something better to deal with and that was Diedrich. She followed him into the quieter corner and watched him as he spoke to her. He then took her hands and her heart skipped a beat, if she wasn't strong she would had shed a tear at the fact this German before her seemed to care about her so much.
Taking in a deep breath she looked up at him with a smile on her lips. "Good, marvellous in fact. I am just slightly nervous about singing tonight, I've never had such a big audience," she said, smiling a little sheepishly. She was very nervous about singing on the grandest stage of all because if she slipped up, it could be her life that was taken away from her, even if they didn't know she was an English spy. "But thank you for inviting me to this gathering, I really enjoy your company," she said, smiling warmly. For a Nazi he was very warm, polite, intelligent and just generally charming and if she forgot where his loyalties laid, she could easily get along with this handsome gentleman.

The warm intelligence of Juliette was radiating onto him like a soft heater on a cold day. He felt the need to close his eyes as her sweet voice professed to him how she was doing. She stated that she was great but that she was very nervous. His ice eyes popped open and he looked at her with concern. What could he do to help her? The only way to know was by asking.
"What can I do to make things easier for you?" Diedrich asked in all seriousness. If she said 'cut off the heads of the blond bear women's heads', he'd probably do it in a heartbeat with a snap of his fingers.
"The worst thing you could tell me is that you are apprehensive, I want the lovely lady to feel comfortable so her voice may enchant everyone else like it has enchanted me," Diedrich didn't take his calculating eyes off of her for a second, if only he knew she was lecherous towards Nazis, but in the presence of a stunning woman, he was as good as milk. In some sense, it made Hans Landa a better officer, even though Edselvine was a greater rank. He couldn't help it and he knew, somewhere deep down, that women were his downfall.
As much as he loved torture, killing jews and gypsies, and manipulating non-Germans for his own good, there was still a spot left in his heart for pleasing women and finding the right one. He knew that Brutina was likely the best woman out there for him, but she was very overbearing... perhaps if this Juliette was kind and pleasant, she would fill the space in his heart that Brutina currently occupied.
Edselvine let his mind wander too much and clicked his brain back to the here and now. He had to wonder if Juliette would like some good, hardy German beer to cure her spirits of her trepidation of performing in front of such a great, elegant crowd.
"Do you think you would need a drink?" The oberfuhrer cocked his head to the side, trying to list more ideas for helping her nervousness. What did she think of all of this sudden care about her anxiety? Diedrich hoped he wasn't being too pushy, but he couldn't help it if he legitimately cared about her emotional state. He has letting her beauty and words wash over him far too much, Hans Landa would NOT be proud.

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth looked up at him, she felt a little bad for what she was trying to do to him now. He was a sweet guy, someone who had a heart and actually cared for the people he was around instead of just being someone who would push people aside to get their own way, either that or he was just a very good actor. Although she was an excellent actress but no one knew that, well, apart from the Basterds."I think I just need something to steady my nerves, I should be fine after that," she said with a little weak smile. To calm her nerves she could do anything, drink, take a deep breath, a long cigarette or anything else that someone could think of. She always had nerves before going on stage at the small night club because she was someone who didn't like showing off her talents, even if it was something as simple as singing a song that was a few minutes long. Before going on stage every night she had to drink a rather large glass of wine, just to calm her nerves and get herself ready for speaking with the Germans in France.
He was charming and pleasant enough and she was beginning to feel that if in another life and out of this terrible war, these two could have even have been friends. They had similar tastes and his company was enjoyable as long as the conversation topic didn't change to his exploits and then she would become slightly uncomfortable but play it off the best she could. She heard his compliment and her heart skipped yet another beat, why was he doing this to her? "I do not think my voice can enchant, but I can try my best," she said, smiling lightly at him. She was the typical modest French girl and she was good at playing that part, sometimes a little too well, but modesty in a way was herself, she could be modest about a few things, but when she was Juliette, she tried to act as modest as possible, for some reason it made her a little more attractive.
A drink, an excellent idea, she liked that idea a lot, not only would it calm her down for her singing, but it would most likely settle her nerves as she was around all these German officers, she even heard that some of the higher people were going to be here like Goebbles and that was just crazy to her. "I think a drink would hit the spot at this particular moment," she said with a little smile as she looked up at him. If this had been any other officer, her eyes would have wondered all over the place from the males that were currently muttering under their breath about the French lovely in the company of Diedrich and to the females dressed up as bears which just made her think more and more of stupid Donny Donowitz, hence why she avoided looking around, but also because Diedrich was the one who deserved her attention at this particular moment.

The woman was so very demure! Diedrich was drinking it up like fine wine! It turned him on and catapulted her higher in his mind. Even though he was turned on, his nether regions remained stagnant. He knew the proper times to be sexually excited and when to keep his guard up. But it was so hard with the way she spoke, her hair was neatly done, her personality was so shy and desirable. This was a woman not after his money and fame, he concluded. French or not French, he was tripping head over heels for her.
He figured the only way she could be 100% perfect was if she was a blond and German. But he convinced himself there was no blond with such an opposite personality, nor a German woman.
Juliette told him she'd like a drink and without hesitation he whistled at a bear waitress walking by them and she brought over two Oktoberfest-sized beers. Now, was the real test. Would she be just a delicate wine drinker or could she handle the tasty, saturating German beer? He took both beers off the platter and thanked the pretty girl, careful not to stare at her bosom and body.
With a playful tone that put away his once somber tone, he grinned at her, "so you said a drink, my lady, and you were not specific! Here's a fine German beer for you!"
Edselvine might've liked wine, but there was nothing quite like a German beer. He clutched the mug in his hand and took one big gulp. If amongst other friends, he would've chugged it amidst cheers, but he did not want to appear as a man that loved the bottle. After he tasted the beer, he puckered his lips and gently shook his head.
"Oh, cela était si bon!" He told her it was 'so good' in French with that same big grin yet again.
Diedrich hoped that Juliette would enjoy the beer, he decided he'd carefully watch her face to see if she enjoyed the beer or not. He heard stories of French not liking the German national drink. Edselvine decided he'd let her off the hook if she disliked the taste of it. Not everyone could take German customs, though they should!
Diedrich wondered what his friends would think if he married a French girl. Would they turn their backs on him? Spit on his children? Whatever, if they were married, that meant she automatically became German in his book and their children would be born in the fatherland and be German as well. Wasn't that all that really mattered?
He was getting ahead of himself yet again, but he realized it was hard not too when he felt like a young 15 year old boy again with the blond that had stolen his virginity and they had sworn they loved each other. Diedrich was in lust, for sure.

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth had been told she could be a little heart breaker if she wanted to be, she could run across English fields and capture the hearts of hundreds of different men and play them all along and always get away with it. Her teachers would tell her this, her brother would tell her this and all those girls who idolised her back home would tell her this. She would laugh it off and tell them they were insane, yes, she knew she was pretty, but she did not believe a woman could hold so many hearts, and if she could, she wouldn't want to, she was a one man woman, well, that was when she was at home, while at war, she captured the hearts of as many people as she could because she knew the only way into a soldiers mind, was through their pants, sad, but true. But not true of Diedrich, yes, he was a man and desired a woman's touch, but he knew the trash from the keepers and she was playing to be a keeper at the moment.
She watched as he placed the beer in her hand. Yes, she could drink beer and yes, she did rather enjoy a German beer, but seriously, did the glass need to be this big? Being in France, she was used to being bought champagne, fine wines and the occasional spirit such as whisky or vodka, she had even been known on occasion to drink Aldo's Moonshine, but beer had been something she had missed for at least the passed year. Her and her brother would constantly be drinking it, no matter what country it was from! "I guess I did, so I had better drink this," she said, smiling lightly, she appreciated the beer a lot more than a normal person would have, she was waiting for the moment when she could actually drink it.
About to take her first sip of beer in a long time, she was interrupted by Diedrich speaking French which brought a small smile upon her lips. She tapped his chest playfully as she leant in towards him slightly. "You speak my language with an excellent accent," she said, flattering him slightly, in reality, it was okay, yes, it was definitely better than what she had heard some of these Germans speak, but he was no linguist, that's for sure, but then you didn't insult your company, more precisely, the person who had invited you out. Finally, she got to tackle her beer, taking a small short sip of it to make sure it wasn't drugged and that it was the good German beer she would remember. Ah, refreshing and just the beer she liked. She began to take a longer drink from the frosty glass that brought a genuine smile to her face. Once she had savoured the taste and noted the red lipstick smudge on the glass, she turned back to Diedrich with a smile. "A most wonderful national drink, maybe we should sell more of this at the club," she said with a little grin as she looked at Diedrich, concentrating on him and no one else here.

There was just something about a good beer that got Diedrich's spirits riled. He was ready for a dance after drinking the remainder of his beer. It appeared as if Juliette enjoyed the liquid German drink, which was grand! She even admitted that perhaps they should serve it more at her club. He nodded in agreement. This woman was too lovely not to ask for a dance.
He placed his empty glass on a tray going by and then took her hand. Diedrich wasn't mean about it, he realized she was a female, and in his mind, could be hurt easily, so he gently pulled her back into the middle of the crowd of Nazis. Everyone eyed them with keen interest. Diedrich let go of her hand.
"I will be right back," he told her with a bright smile.
Diedrich hurried through the crowd to the stage where the band was playing. He motioned with his index finger and middle finger for someone to come to him. A man standing on the side of the stage supervising the music came over to him and leaned his ear to Edselvine's lips so that he could hear amidst the rock of the music.
Edselvine said something to the man and the man nodded in understanding. Diedrich turned on his heel and headed back to the lovely lady. Before he said anything to her, he put one hand on her hip and glided his fingers through her other hand. Just as he did, the musicians started to play slow, sexy music. Diedrich was a natural born leader and calmly led Juliette into a dance whether she wanted to dance or not.
The floor of Nazis and partygoers all swooped away from the duo, letting them share their dance in peace. Many adoring eyes watched the two dance. The ladies emanated a sense of jealousy, because if they could just get into the oberfuhrer's pants, they could get his money and fame! The men were jealous that he got the prettiest women in the room, no matter what.
Years of practicing his charm and grace and personal appearance made him an instant hit with the ladies. He couldn't help it if his allies couldn't mimic what he did. Diedrich was the one and only Hitler's golden boy and Bear German. Not too many could surpass that!
Diedrich took the opportunity to take in the bewitching aroma of her hair. He didn't quite know what it smelled like, but it was something that was a delight to his nose. As he danced with her a little longer to the song he whispered in her ear, "are you enjoying yourself, love?"

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth watched him as he took her hand, something about thing just seemed strange about this whole situation. She didn't want to be here because she was surround by Nazis, people who were killing her friends and family, people of her heritage. She knew this would be something that was going to be talked about for years, when people thought about the Second World War, they wouldn't speak of the men that had died on the fields as much as they spoke of the cruelty towards the Jews. She knew something was amiss, something was worse than what they were saying and something huge was going on and this clever little girl was figuring it out. She feared that they had done something horrible to the family she had living in Poland, but she had no way of contacting them, no way of finding out what they were doing. She tried to push them out of her mind because it would screw with her head too much and she didn't need to be put out of her swing. But at the same time, she had a strange sense of being safe, she was in good company and she didn't want to be here, but she felt good here. She knew she felt good sitting with the Basterds, drinking and having a laugh, but something was sitting stangely in her mind.
She was lead into the middle of the party, standing with Diedrich as many people looked at them, curious as to what they would do next. She had already finished her beer and handed it back to those strange women parading around in bear costumes. Her urge to say Mozel Tov to them grew a little because she was constantly reminded of Donny while here, something that probably wasn't a good thing when surround by over one hundred Nazi followers. She decided that she would keep her mouth shut unless spoken to, that would mean she looked even politer than she was. She was good and playing and that's why she liked this job so much. She watched him as he left, pouting slightly, looking at him longingly as if she missed him every second he was gone from her side and she was very good at that. He came back quicker than you could say 'Down with Hitler' and she smiled politely.
Next thing she knew thay were dancing and she had her hand on his shoulder and her other hand was entiwined in his. They danced together being constantly eyed by the people around them, she felt a little strange being the centre of the attention but she enjoyed it because people would see her with Diedrich and respect her instantly, or hate her if they were women who had a crush on him. She stayed close to his body, getting close as humanly possible as they danced their dance and had some fun. "Of course I am Oberführer, how could I not enjoy your amazing comapny," she whispered seductively in his ear. "And your dancing skills," she added as they were a little closer together.

"I always knew good dancing would make me more appealing," he whispered, grinning at her again.
Depsite having a mug of beer in his system, he wasn't feeling the affects. It took more than one big German brew to make him tipsy. He didn't want to be drunk unless the lady was drunk as well. A sober person in the presence of a drunkard was never a fun situation. Besides, it was more of a challenge for Diedrich to court Juliette if they both were sober anyhow.
Diedrich asked himself was this a boyish love he was feeling, or was it actually the base of something more? If it was a beginning of a base, he wished that Juliette would escort him to his home in Germany, so he could pursue her more. But it'd be too soon, he thought, to ask the fascinating female back to his house in Germany. Perhaps she was more tied to her homeland of France than what he knew...
And if that was the case, it'd be difficult to shake her into being a German, but she was doing a fine job of it now. He wished all French women could be as smart as Juliette. It'd make his job easier if they followed Nazi law like she was doing.
He might casually bring it up in conversation, but the time for asking wasn't now, it could potentially ruin their wonderful dance. Edselvine continued to dance her slowly across the floor until the song ended. He bowed gracefully to the crowd of on-lookers in his Nazi uniform and smiled. The party guests clapped and whistled for them.
Edselvine didn't want this night to end. Life was so uncomplicated at a party, and the qualms of being the best Nazi officer were put aside just to celebrate the rise of Germany. But once the night ended, he assumed he'd have to leave Juliette again, and his wholesome, hearty heart thought it'd be hard to do such a thing. He wasn't the hardened cement Nazi figure when he was around Juliette, he was only putty.
He knew it'd sicken some of his other officers, but everyone had their vice, and Edselvine's happened to be gorgeous women.
Diedrich led Juliette away as the next song began and many others began dancing. As he passed a bear waitress he plucked a shot glass of whiskey off of her platter and downed it in a second. He needed to harden up his nerves, if even just a little bit. He was becoming too much of Juliette's victim!
"So... what's on your mind?" He asked, tilting his head up, "are you ready to sing yet?"

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth may have been with Diedrich in body and she might have been looking at him as if she was interested, but her mind drifted slightly, off to the place where she would be after the war. She didn't know if she was going to make it out of this war alive and she knew that she wanted to, she knew that if she did, she would most likely end up marrying someone from this war. If her parents had their way it would have been someone like Archie Hicox, a nice English boy, but if she had anything to do with it, although she never wanted to admit it, it would most likely be Donny. When she was with him, there was a weird feeling she got, deep in her gut when she wanted to take him there and then, but at the same time, she hated him with every fiber of her body. She hated it when he entered her mind, but a light shake of the head, covered up to make it look as if she was shaking a lose curl from her eyes, and she was back to normal once again.
Being at a party was rather fun because she didn't have to think about the Basterds getting caught while she was here because they were back at the camp, getting drunk and being men, hence why she didn't fit in there and she had to move off because a fine lady as herself being around drunken brutes was never a good idea. They had finished their dance and everyone cheered and clapped the handsome Oberführer and his guest, Juliette Lefebvre, a French singer who had captured the young man's heart, if only they knew of her bitter heart and hatred for the Nazis, if only knew she was a Jew, if only they knew that behind the smiles, singing and sweet kisses, she was ready to kill every single one of them here in that moment, even if she knew she wouldn't get out, she would take as many with them as she could. She watched him take his shot of whiskey and suddenly hoped it was lined with cyanide, she could claim innocence and then the strange women in bear costumes would be the ones who are suspected.
What was on her mind? Oh, quite a lot, a million and one different things that could include slitting this man's throat if she only but had the chance, he disgraced the name of The Bear Jew, how dare he think he was the German counterpart, he didn't have the determination, the style, the heart, the courage and the good looks. He was a coward who hid behind a swastika. "The only thing on my mind, Oberführer, is you," she said with a little smile, her eyes flickering with that emotion that was love. She was an amazing actress, she could fool the top of them all, she was sure if she met Hitler, she could fool him with a flutter of her eyelashes. "For you, I am always ready to sing," she spoke softly as she moved a small strand of hair out of Diedrich's eyes, touching his face lightly with a sweet smile.

Edselvine wanted to keep the French beauty entertained, hence why he was going out of his way to talk to her, drink with her, dance with her. He would do anything just so that she liked him! Sometimes, he wasn't good at seeing the traitor, and this was one of those times. His radar was completely off because this was a party, not truly Nazi business. This was all about appearances, there was no reason to look for traitors, the security at the party could do that.
She said she was always ready to sing, and if the oberfuhrer was capable of blushing, that's what he would be doing. But he managed a skinny, embarrassed smile. The man that was on the stage that he had talked to about a special song quickly walked by him, but Edselvine grabbed his arm and pulled him back. So much for being sweet.
"I am sorry to bother you again, good sir, but could you possibly arrange my lovely Juliette to sing on the stage?" He grinned at him, "I believe she will entertain the audience quite well!"
The man gave Diedrich a curt nod and leaned by Juliette.
"What song do you wish to sing tonight, ma'am?" He asked politely.
Diedrich knew there were songs written about the Bear German that were quite beautiful, but he didn't want to flaunt himself in front of Juliette. This time, he decided to let her choose the song. He hoped she would choose something German, but he decided it'd be okay if she proposed a French song as well. After all, they were at the Eiffel Tower, it didn't get much dirtier than that.
He gave Juliette an air kiss on the cheek, took her hand, and briefly told her that he'd be watching from the audience and that he'd let the manager and herself deliberate. And with that, Diedrich excused himself back to his officer friends. Clove and Waldronhelm were grinning at him.
"Are you going to 'get her' after the party, sir?" Clove jokingly asked with a wink.
"No, I believe she is too good to give herself to me on nothing more than a first date, Clove!" Diedrich sincerely replied.
"She must know you are a real bear in the sack!" Waldronhelm chuckled.
"She can think what she will about me, as long as those thoughts are positive."
If only Diedrich knew she was in cahoots with the Bear Jew. If he knew, he would kill her so quickly she wouldn't even know she was dead until her life floated away. But there was a definite fog over his mind when he was around Juliette, it was like she had mystical powers, or perhaps it was just Diedrich's optimism and mojo going crazy.

even though i will kiss you with a smile, all i can taste is the murderous taste on your lips. Elizabeth smiled as he enquired a man to play a song with her. She had to think of a song, and quick, she was a little out of touch of German praise songs as she had only sung love songs as of late. Being in a bar surrounded by drunken men meant that they didn't particularly care what you sung about, but love songs tended to make them gaze up at her with a smitten look and couldn't wait for her to get off stage so they could touch those lips that had sung the song that they had thought was for them. The man approached her and asked her what song she wanted to sing. "Do you know 'Feiern Sie Deutschland', upbeat and in F major?" she said with a little smile as she watched the man jump up on the stage to set up the band and tell them what they had to play. She turned to Diedrich and smiled as they air kissed and nodded as he said he would be watching her, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Standing on stage in front of all these upper class German soldiers and dignitaries, she was actually nervous. She would be singing in German and a slight slip of the pronounciation would probably have her booed off the stage, ot someone would shout at her for being a silly French girl who butchered their language. She didn't like the idea of her whole life resting on this one song. She could get away with it in the night club if she slipped on her French accent because one, they were German, they had no idea what she was singing anyway and two, they were all drunk so even if they would have noticed, being drunk stopped them from caring about anything. Tonight, her heart was pounding and wanted to escape from her chest, but she had to do this for herself and she had to do it for the Basterds.
"I would like to dedicate this song to my escort for tonight, a wonderful man and someone I have deeply connected with," she said, smiling at Edselvine. Then she sang, she sang for Germany, a German anthem about their rise to power and their strength. She sang the song as if she cared for them, swaying with the music, smiling at the German men that gazed up at her, still wondering if she would ditch Edselvine and come home with them tonight, but she didn't want to. She wanted to stay here all night in truth because here she was safe and she wouldn't have to move fast with Edselvine, kissing was about as far as she would go tonight, but if more was asked of her, she would probably do it for the sake of England. Her last words echoed through out the audience and there was a pause of silence, her heart almost stopped. Suddenly, the crowd errupted in cheering and clapping and her heart continued to beat, a smile on her face as she curtseied to the audience and slowly left the stage. She walked towards her escort for tonight and blushed slightly, smiling at him. "I hope you enjoyed that," she said, acting as her typical innocent and cute French girl.

When Juliette started to sing a beautiful German tune, Edselvine's heart skipped a beat. He was expressing a smile that arrived from his heart, the likes of which garnered the attention of his associates. Waldronhelm snickered to Clove, it was a rare sight for them to see the Oberfuhrer so completely consumed by a simple French girl. It wasn't even Bridget Von Hammersmark, for God's sake! They did not understand him at all, but knew it was better not to say anything.
Edselvine was bewitched. Her voice was ethereal. It spoke volumes to him. The irony was terrible, if only someone could, indeed, pinch him and tell him that she was no more than a mere traitor trying to gather details for the hated Basterds. But nothing could break the spell over him now. He was lost in an ocean of lust and love. And to think Juliette, was his just enhanced the effect. Every man is the room desired her presence now. But none could have her. She was his.
When she finished the song, the crowd went into an absolute uproar. It was rare to experience such a singing talent from a youthful beauty. Diedrich looked around proudly, wildly clapping his hands and smiling. He probably would've slapped someone that hadn't been applauding her entertainment! Juliette found her way back to the oberfuhrer and she acted meek and mild.
"Oh, I enjoyed it! Everyone enjoyed it too! You are the greatest songstress to grace our century!" Diedrich beamed with adoration.
The charming man took her hand amidst his own two hands and just shook his own head in disbelief. He then brought her hands to the approximate location of his heart and stared into her eyes.
"Do you feel that? Your song enchanted me so much that my heart cannot stop beating so quickly. I have goose pimples, even..." Edselvine whispered, "Juliette, I think you were made just for me."
The words rolled out of his mouth like sweet cream. It wasn't something he was quick to say to just anyone. He was truly infatuated by the false beauty, there was no way around it. The black widow had successfully trapped her prey within her sparkling web. Was there anyone that could knock some sense into his brain, or was he lost forever to her feminine mystique?
